Miguel Leon-Fregoso gets shot after going to AC Lounge, punkboard is more friendly with shooter than victim
Summarized version of San Diego Punkboard thread about shooting.
Upon leaving the AC Lounge, Miguel Leon-Fregoso is shot in the face by David Barron. Poor Miguel died the next morning, and Mr. Barron slept in til 2pm, and then was arrested by the SDPD in connection with the murder.
This PBN reporter didn’t hear the shots (both Miguel and his friend were fired upon), but was at Kadans across the street after the police were called to the scene.
Nevertheless, most, if not all thepunkboard.com posters know that the AC Lounge is inhabited by douchebags and only douchebags, especially after the owner of the AC Lounge was reputed to comment that hes glad that he was able to rid his space of “black people”.
Strike that, I meant inhabited by gun-toting douchebags like David Barron. I mean, getting into a dispute over a lady is totally deserving of firing a gun, much less killing somebody, amirite?
Meanwhile, signonsandiego’s comment section contains a plethora of comments regarding Gary John’s general mishandling of opening a non-neighborhood bar in such a neighborhood-oriented area, especially after Normal Heights became a homebuyers heaven in the early 2000’s, ya know, before the housing crisis/slump of 2007 and beyond.
While most would say that the AC Lounge’s owner isn’t responsible for what happens inside or outside of his moneymaker, it seems like there is a grassroots movement to shut the bar down or at least impose some impossible rules upon it. As a longtime North Park resident who was in his teens when AC Lounge opened, I can’t honestly remember many shootings occurring while the space and liquor license was occupied by Your Place (btw, which had an air conditioned neon sign beside the door).

Miguel has been the my friend for over 15years and its a shame that some buster ass kid had to take this mans life..my prayers to his first family and much love to his second which was hip hop..moder was truley a all around hip hop head!! ill miss u brotha..tell paris and keesh ill be home soon!
