Every so often, we’ll answer some reader mail, this is one of those posts.
dustin: Which one of you faggots wrote this
punkboard news reporter #2: We are a cool dude.
Comment by DJ Edgartronic: I’ve got haters…rad. That Le Tigre mashup blows. Ask Donny about Monday nights at Scolari’s…one of my first gigs EVAR
punkboard news reporter #2: We don’t really hate you, we respect you as like a living breathing human being and stuff. We challenge you, with your pull, to get more bands booked at shows that you are spinning at. And everything about Le Tigre blows. We’d ask Donny about Monday Night’s at Scolari’s but, y’know dudes looking for a job and stuff.
Comment by Sarah: Boo hoo, some people actually grow up and like to go to nice places in their own neighborhood now that they have real jobs and aren’t still stuck in high-school worries about what’s “cool” and not. Grow up.
punkboard news reporter #2: You could have always taken the #2 bus to downtown, partied with the assholes you probably want to surround yourself with, and supported public transportation. Instead you want “your” neighborhood to have places like that, kicking out the people and things that have been there for years and made it possible for you to live there, without fear. For shame, Sarah. For shame.
Comment by Morgan Young (again): FYI, the dudes that own PB Bar & Grill just bought Shooters. KABOOM!
punkboard news reporter #2: OMG The Hair! Well, we’ve heard that too, we’re not sure what to think about it. We liked Shooterz and were sad to see it go, we’ve never been to PB Bar & Grill- those “people” aren’t for us, but we don’t know - in our mind PBB&G is a sports bar, we like sports. It could work, maybe. (One thing you, the reader doesn’t know is that the reason we do this is because we remain optimistic that things we could change. We were optimistic about U-31, the Office, Urban Solace, everything new in North Park. We’re the kind of guy who will never turn off a baseball game featuring our favorite team regardless of how many runs they are down because they could still win - its possible - they could come back!)
Comment by Jack: The real problem here is… the gentrification of cell phones. Fuck that. I keep it real. iPhone? Cordless phone? Get off! That’s why I only use rotary phones. Alexander Graham Bell would have wanted it that way. All the rest of you people who upgraded to touch-tone phones have NO respect and you should hate yourselves. Have fun doing all sorts of cool things like “checking voice mail” or “texting your buddy.” Meanwhile, I’ll be here fighting that “uphill” battle to keep it street.
Skeet skeet.
Yeah, how ridiculous did that sound? Exactly. Tobacco Rhodas is still pumping, I suggest you make that your new spot. I just saw a homeless dude piss himself there last week. Sounds like it’s right up your alley, homey.
punkboard news reporter #2: Skeet skeet?! Sup 2005! if you had bothered to read the article you would have realized that we want live bands, Rhoda’s doesn’t do that. On a side note, the one time we’ve been inside Rhoda’s - on a date! (We’re good at dating, really good at it, ladies leave cell #’s or myspaces in the comments… we’ll take you to Lestat’s and then the hookah bar down the street, sup?) and the bartender was wearing face paint ala a clown (Nightmare Fuel!) and we asked her why she was wearing that stuff and she responded “It’s always so sad in here, I just want to cheer people up y’know?”
That was 11:30 on a Friday night.
Comment by cat dirt: Great post. Here is my contribution to the best DJ category: http://catdirtsez.blogspot.com/2008/08/just-call-them-hipster-mcdouche.html
punkboard news reporter #2: DID EVERYONE READ CAT DIRTS COOL 6 WORD ARTICLE? K COOL
Comment by sophie: the golden hill moose lodge, $3 drinks, $6 pitcher(!) of stella, wine served in a pint glass with a straw, shuffleboard - sadly no more shows, for now. and gaslamp/pb-free
punkboard news reporter #2: We will give it a shot!
Comment by Dayna: when will people from the punk board stop whining?
youre all at least 30 now, i would hope youd have a job by now that would allow you to stop whining about having to PAY to go to see a fucking show. people own these places, people spent money trying to clean the office up just like many of the other places youre complaining about, and plus the door money goes to promoters, you know… the guys that would be responsible for actually BOOKING a band and promoting a show..if they dont charge a cover then why would they give a shit what the 32 year old who only buys 1 or 2 pabst wants to see the next week…
bars are businesses. thats it. they really shouldent give a shit if you feel like youre at home. if you dont like it, leave and find somewhere else… stop complaining.. or open youre own bar and book and pay bands to play and let all your friends in for free and charge $1 for drinks…. yeah? sounds like a great idea right?
punkboard news reporter #2: Everyone should know punkboarder’s drink more than 2 PBR’s you idiot. Theres enough of us and our hanger’s-on to support a bar. Also we looked at the top 100 posters on the Punkboard, and we’d wager that the median age of the average poster on TPB is less than 28. Now, give us some coke, ho.
Comment by Max: Great article dude! I really like the eloquent use of the word “faggot”. What would be cool is if you could revise it and put a list at the end of shows and events you have put together
punkboard news reporter #2: This one made us laugh, we aren’t a very vulgar person but we feel strongly about the use of Comic Sans MS. We don’t do lists of shows, thats SDdialedIn’s thing, they do a much better job then we ever could.
Comment by christie rhode: i give it danya that you might be a little whiny, but that doesn’t excuse her for being a soulless moron.
i too feel your pain at the gentrification of north park and the sacrifice of community-centric businesses (i.e. our beloved bars) to make way for profit driven, soulless clubs that cater to the vacant north park neo-yuppie trash. i’ll pay a little more for drinks and i’ll pay a reasonable cover to support music and local business because i understand that my patronage is almost a social responsibility to fight gentrification. i will not set foot or hand over any cash to businesses like U-31, the office, bluefoot or any other facsimile thereof, or any other establishment that seeks to prosper at the detriment of another business or the community at large. i have very little but vehement hatred for the heartless, soul-sucking, brain-raping and vacuous voids that would enjoy a night at such places. i mourn not necessarily for the loss of this place or that, but having to witness the gasping death of establishments the measured profit in not in terms of just a number, but in the strength and sincerity of our community.
punkboard news reporter #2: We think we are in love.
Comment by crawler: Maybe if anyone on the punk board did anything worth more than $10/hr (or sat on their asses with government cheese) they could actually afford to band together to buy a bar. It really is sad, lonely losers in their mid to late 30’s trying to get fucked up 5 nights of the week and lose 40 pounds.
punkboard news reporter #2: So let’s get the top 100 posters to chip in 1,000 each and viola! I’m sure 100 people going into business together would work well. Where have you been all of our life crawler? Also, you are probably the fattest person ever, and dumbest.
And ugliest. Fatass.

Donny was the only guy who would give Edgartronic a chance back then and now all Edgar does is talk shit about Scolaris. His first DJ night was so bad Donny didn’t even want him back. Shooter was bought by the owners of The Tavern by the way, pretty much the same as PB bar $ Grill
Comment by Jeff
The fuckin tavern and PB bar n grill….fuck that crap…the nightlife in PB sucks something worse than balls (insert whatev u hate, if your the punkboardnews that would be the rest of the world I assume, haha)… a few fix-ups in North Park started as a nice thing, getting rid of some stank, and upgrading the PA…but now sdsc sold to some whore-slingin stripclub satans who don’t know jack ’bout music…and the worst scene EVER (pb bar n grill) moving into north park, the backlash against the gentrification is gonna snowball….I say we have sign-holding, bullhorn blaring protests against these places when they open
Comment by Bear Cub
I’ve never made more 10/hour and am lucky to make 22/a day, but then again I’m not a souless asshole that justifies their life with money and possessions.
If you fags want to develop a community do it through public works, not disefransicing spendatures

Would you like to pet my monkey?

Can anyone lend me $10,000 till my January 1st, 2024? I need to go to the fest for a week, and my daughter will get some school clothes from goodwill with the remaining $20. If there is $20 left of course.
Thanks - Annie Metal
