True North, North Park’s newest, hippest spot to be a total douche
Check out what the Verant Group is cooking on the most gentrified block in all of North Park!
True North will be a casual, laid back neighborhood bar and lounge offering a unique atmosphere and experience with something for everyone. This distinguished bar just off North Park’s bustling University Avenue, and just moments from its many diverse galleries, restaurants and boutiques, is the ideal place for social gatherings and special events. True North is a haven for the sports connoisseur with 15 HD widescreen TVs. They offer a large full-service bar, comfortable booths with four mega booths, two pool tables, video gaming and an outdoor patio all encompassing 6,000 square feet of entertainment. Here you will find great drinks and great people from every urban niche. You will be surrounded by eye-catching visuals of music videos, daily sports action or even a classic movie or two. At night, expect to find a packed house with an eclectic crowd mingling and dancing to live DJs spinning funk, 80s, urban beats and billboard favorites. Come check out the preferred locals’ spot in North Park and experience the superb environment.
Urban, bustling, niche, eclectic, DJs, funk, experience…so many truly 92104′ish words and descriptors! The best part is, most of the people that like paying for overpriced drinks in new, snazzy North Park “neighborhood bars and lounges” don’t even live in North Park! Cases in point: The AC Lounge, U-31, The Office, and Bluefoot to some extent. North Park, the new Gaslamp… or the new Pacific Beach, without the Beach. Fun times!
The Verant Group is owned by 3 dudes who all met in Pacific Beach, and later formed The Tavern in Peebz. They went on to form 2 more Pacific Beach bars that all have the same generic, surfboardie, brodown look and atmosphere. In 2007 they all realized that yuppies, hipsters, and all the douchebags that would live in Peebs but can’t afford it have finally got real jobs and don’t mind spending $200 a night in order to get wasted, so they bought Shooterz. Taking back North Park from the gays wooo! Two out of the three owners are recent transplants, one from New York (Upstate, not the cool part), and one that self-admittably calls himself “a NorCal boi”. The other douchebag was a Pacific Beach bartender that is a people person, so he sits on a slew of Pacific Beach business associations and is the newest member of the North Park Business Improvement District (which is a fancy way of saying Douchebags That Think They Own The Place And Waste $30,000 Trying To Figure Out How To Kick Out The Homeless).
I think these guys will make tons of money with their 15 HD widescreen TV’s, funky eclectic beats, and $6 drinks. CANNOT WAIT
